Creating Floratorium Cafe

My memories (Carlos Franqui, Founder) of a perfect breakfast growing up in Puerto Rico included eating the famous and delectable “Mallorca” from La Bombonera in Old San Juan. After that we’d go visit my grandmothers gardens filled with Roses, Bougainvillea, Hibiscus, in a town called Luquillo on the skirts of the National Subtropical Rainforest “El Yunque”.
This nostalgic memories are the foundation and concept of Floratorium Cafe. We invite you to experience the visual beauty and flavors of those memories, expertly brought to life by the skilled hands of Celebrity Chef Jose Mejia.

Carlos Franqui, the Founder / Creative Director of Floratorium has blossomed his passion for art and design into Floratorium Cafe. Once an advertising creative turned fashion stylist and floral designer, he has seamlessly woven his passion for art and design into the vibrant tapestry of the cafe world in Wood-Ridge, NJ. As the owner of our cafe, he draws upon his background in media and brand strategy, creating innovative concepts that transform every visit into an unforgettable experience. With a foundation from the esteemed FlowerSchool NY and a rich career spanning events, celebrities, restaurants, and fashion, 

Chef Jose Mejia

Meet Chef Jose Mejia, the executive chef of Floratorium Café. With over thirty years of experience, his journey began with a passion for transforming ingredients into delectable experiences. From prestigious LeBasque Catering in Florida, Chef Mejia's culinary finesse creates lasting impressions, having graced the palates of icons like Shakira and Barack Obama. 
Whether crafting exquisite dishes that captivate the most discerning palates or orchestrating grand culinary affairs, his creativity transcends limitations. Beyond his dishes, he possesses a unique talent for crafting memorable dining experiences. 
With every plate Chef Mejia presents, he extends an invitation to embark on a journey of taste, texture, and emotion, revealing the depths of his passion and his expertise.
